Biology Club, assemble! Science girls receive “Encouragement Award”!

On 4 December, 2025 by Sasaki

It`s the Biology Club! We received an Encouragement Award at the poster presentation event of “Gather! Science Girls* (17th National Conference for Female Student Science Research Presentations)” (sponsored by Notre Dame Seishin Gakuen Seishin Junior and Senior High School) held on Sunday, November 23rd, at Tokyo Metropolitan University’s Minami-Osawa Campus (Hachioji City).

The event began with an opening ceremony followed by a lecture by a female researcher from Tokyo Metropolitan University (“Art and Science: Working in the Interdisciplinary Field of Science and Humanities”). Poster Presentation 1 took place in the morning, Poster Presentation 2 in the afternoon, followed by a social gathering (led by a facilitator) for the participating female junior and senior high school students, followed by a critique and closing ceremony. Furthermore, ample space was provided for poster display in Tokyo Metropolitan University’s Building 6 (Room 17), and the presentations were divided into two halves, with thorough infection control measures in place.

On the day, over 150 female junior and senior high school students, mainly from the Kanto and Kansai regions, gathered, and the venue was filled with enthusiasm as they gave presentations and exchanged opinions (3 mathematics presentations, 6 information/engineering presentations, 8 physics presentations, 17 chemistry presentations, 36 biology presentations, 11 environment presentations, 4 other presentations, and 12 female researchers presentations: a total of 97 presentations).

Thank you for a wonderful day.

*: “Gather! Science Girls!”: Organized by Notre Dame Seishin Gakuen Seishin Junior and Senior High School (SSH) in Okayama Prefecture, the event aims to support female students pursuing science studies by expanding their network through presentations and exchanges of research projects. Research presentations by female undergraduate and graduate students and lectures by female researchers in collaboration with universities are also held at the same time, providing role models for female junior and senior high school students on pursuing science.
