Light Music Club- Tokorozawa High School Live “TOKO-ROCK”

On Sunday, September 29th, two bands from the light music club, the second-year band “seRECt” and the mixed band of first- and second-year students “Stellar Teal,” participated in the joint live “TOKO-ROCK vol.10” organized by the folk music club of Tokorozawa High School. This was their first participation in TOKO-ROCK in about five years.

Joint live performances are like practice matches for sports clubs, and are one of the few opportunities to see other schools’ performances live, equivalent to joint concerts for brass bands.

The folk music club of Tokorozawa High School has been a very successful club in recent years, having participated in national competitions many times and being the first club from Saitama to win the grand prize. Like our school, it is one of the light music clubs that produces the best bands in the fiercely competitive “western district.”

21 bands from 6 schools in Saitama Prefecture participated in this joint live performance, and they showed off the results of their daily practice. As all of the bands were from schools with a proven track record in various competitions, they gave a wonderful performance.

Our school’s two bands, “seRECt” and “Stellar teal”, each performed one original song and one cover song. Although they made some mistakes due to nervousness at the high-level joint live performance, they played songs that they usually practice hard, they enjoyed listening to the performances of the other schools, and learned a lot from it, making it a “memorable live performance”.

After the live performance, it is a “custom” in Saitama Prefecture light music for each band to go around and ask for feedback from the teachers in charge of each school, and our school’s two bands were able to understand areas for improvement for the next competition by receiving feedback from teachers from the other five schools, making it a meaningful live performance.

The light music club will continue to practice daily for various competitions, performances at domestic and international events, joint live performances, and more, in the pursuit of music that everyone can enjoy listening to.
