This is the Biology Club! A third-year student’s presentation won an Encouragement Award at the selected poster presentation competition at Science Castle World 2025 (sponsored by Leave a Nest), held at Tokyo University of Science (Meguro-ku) on Saturday, December 13th and Sunday, December 14th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third-year student’s winning presentation, “The effect of oral ingestion of cocoa powder on sunburn prevention in hairless mice,” was selected for the selected poster presentation on the 13th after preliminary screening. A first-year student’s presentation was also pre-screened and selected for the poster exchange event held the following day, the 14th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Until now, Science Castle has provided a venue for Japanese junior and senior high school students to present their research, but this year the event has changed its name to World, and with the participation of high school students from overseas (mainly from Southeast Asia), it has become a global event. The schedule for the event was as follows: oral presentations (12 presentations, 4 of which were from overseas) in the morning of the 13th, selected poster presentations (80 presentations, 20 of which were from overseas) in the afternoon, and poster presentations by high school students from overseas (43 presentations) over the 13th and 14th. The following morning, the 14th, saw a large poster exchange meeting (33 presentations, 1 of which was from overseas; 19 presentations were presented on the 13th) and a workshop in the afternoon, making for a fulfilling two days. The Japan Convention (held in Osaka) is also scheduled for June next year, which will serve as a stepping stone to international conventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
