The Biology Club won the Bronze Award at the Junior Agricultural Chemistry Society!
On 29 March, 2026 by SasakiThis is the Biology Club. On March 12th (Thursday), we participated in the Junior Agricultural Chemistry Society*’s “High School Student Research Presentation” at the JSBBA (Japan Society for Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Agrochemistry) 2026 Annual Meeting (Kyoto Meeting) held at Doshisha University (Kyoto City), and received the Bronze Award.
On the same day as the JSBBA Kyoto Meeting, 128 presentations (443 participating students) were gathered from all over Japan, from Hokkaido in the north to Okinawa in the south, and fierce competition unfolded in the presentation venue at the Kanbai-kan at Doshisha University. Since all three of the Biology Club’s presentations were numbered even, our presentation was scheduled for the even-numbered core time after the odd-numbered core time presentations following the opening ceremony. Afterwards, there was a luncheon, followed by the awards ceremony and closing ceremony in the afternoon. At the awards ceremony, while many SSH (Super Science High School) and other project research projects received awards, the Bronze Award (P082) for “(P082) Presentation Title: Sunburn Prevention Effect and Improvement of Gut Flora in Hairless Mice by Oral Ingestion of Cacao Powder” by a third-year student from the biology club of Yamamura International High School, a regular high school, was truly remarkable.
Thank you to everyone involved with the Junior Society for Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Agrochemistry.
*The Junior Society for Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Agrochemistry is a research presentation event for high school students established by the JSBBA (Japan Society for Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Agrochemistry), one of the largest academic societies in Japan, with the aim of promoting the future development of bioscience and biotechnology. The presentation event provides an invaluable opportunity to refine research, as students receive valuable feedback from judges and other experts participating in the society. Therefore, it is an absolutely essential research presentation event for high school students in the biology club.
